i really, really shouldn't be allowed another blog.
really.

but here i am again with a new one. i blame mar. she's good for blaming most things on.
well, stuff related to blogs, at least.

homework is homework and has always been homework. in other words, still not completed. ditto for SAT practice tests.

my mom went to this small, obscure chinese book store yesterday and we now have fifty new books and DVDs.
most of the books related to chinese history and culture. most of the DVDs involve either yoga or taijiquan.
it's actually pretty interesting. the evolution of chinese writing, for instance. the character for bird used to be an actual drawing of a bird, and it slowly evolved into what it is today. or watching groups of people perform taijiquan w/ fan. it's a pretty amazing sight, especially with sound, because then you can hear the sharp SNAP of the fans as they open in unison.
proving, yet again, that multiple people doing something that normally would be considered 'lame' makes it, not only /not lame/, but cool.

as a result i am trying to reglue our broken fans. the shortcomings of technology: plastic is far too brittle, especially in comparison to bamboo.
gluing is proving rather difficult. i've been trying to glue the fans together for ages, but i always worked on one of the ribs and left the other alone. the result is that the otherwise clean break has layers and layers of dried elmer's glue which don't match up. not enough surface area. the crazy glue tries really hard to hold the whole thing together but the old glue slides off and well.
half an hour wasted.
the other broken rib glued really well. only one try and poof! done.
i wonder if this says something about fixing problems.
